happy new owner of an xbox elite

After a friend brought over his Xbox Elite for a New Year's Eve gaming marathon, we HAD to go out and get one. The graphics, when the box was connected via HDMI to our big LCD tv, were STUNNING.

So far we've played once through Marvel ultimate alliance and Gears of War. We're not so impressed with Halo 3.

highest replayability

Hi all. For me, the two games with highest replayability are:

1) Gladius

2) Morrowind (either edition)

And, to a lesser extent, 3) Halo (either)

Even the Star Wars games (and I am a HUGE Star Wars fan) seem so linear that they don't age as well.

Anyone have any suggestions for other games with high replayability?

what are your thoughts?
have you seen the movie? I haven’t but I kinda want to now.

I like all the cool fighting moves.
It reminds me of Bad Dudes or Double Dragon from the old days but way better.
I don’t like the way you control your homies or the targeting though.
I haven’t played too much yet due to lots of work so I am not sure if it is that great yet.

It is a good game though and fun with 2 players as well.

p.s. Project:Snowblind was too short, the enemies were bland, and there wasn't much challenge. I liked the concept of multiple pathways through a stage but I had more fun with GoldenEye:Rogue Agent (although it was too short as well). Anyone play Timesplitters 3:Future Perfect yet?

Loading problems

A little over a month ago, i bought a used XBOX from one of my neice's friends (i can't complain too much because i picked up the box and six already well-used games for $120)

only thing is that now, much like my old PS2 was doing before i packed it and shipped it off for repairs, it is having a hell of a time reading even the cleanest and newest discs.

my copy of DOOM 3 is now the only thing that reads and loads without a hitch.

Do i take it apart and start messing with the lens?

Do i just say "f**k it" and get another one?

or does the house of Bill Gates have any kind of similar repair policy for theirs where i can box it up and ship it back to them.

(of course sony's policy was that if you had not messed with the innards they would fix the disc-read error FOC because they lost a class-action suit over the frequent breakdown issues with the voltage regulators on their lasers - but if it's the same kind of issue, i think MS should do the same)

Modded Xbox

Hey everyone, I have a modded xbox with the Xecuter 3 CE modchip and the Xecuter 3 front panel (contains usb ports and an LCD screen)
The first time I modded my xbox I think I did it the wrong way and flashed my bios with the Evolution X bios, instead of the X3 bios. I was able to copy my emulators and roms over to my HDD which was really great, but my LCD screen doesnt work. I flashed a different bank with the X3 bios and my LCD screen works great, but I can't see anything I setup with the Evox Bios in my dashboard. Also, when I FTP into the X3 bios none of the files show up in the drive. If anyone has ANY advice or can find a thread on xbox-scene that has any answers, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm picking up a used X-box from a friend of mine along with a small cache of games (5 or them, Halo 2, The Suffering...can't remember the other 3)

I am fond of FPS games (am drooling over the prospect of DOOM3) but I'm not *completely* devoted to any one genre of games and would llike to know from others what some good picks might be in general

Since i already own a PS2, unless there is a significant content and/or game-play difference (not just graphics and sound) i'm not really looking to overlap many, if any of my game titles.

Halo 2 tips

Does anyone know where I can find some more Halo 2 tips. Post any tips you have. Here are a few I've learned.

On legendary, kill your men. they don't do much, won't live long and have precious ammo and grenades.

The plasma pistol will take down an over shield on one full charge.
The last portion of your energy shield behaves like health, so a good combination in multiplayer is the plasma pistol (shield) and the smg (health)

I'm thinking that I should of stayed with my gamecube rather then trying to get on xbox live. ok so it's almost midnight and I want to get on xbox live right? But you have to have a subscription card and a credit card. I have a credit card, but I can't get on to XBL cause I need a SCARD!!(which you have to buy from a store) this is so dumb of microsoft, should be able to subscribe with a credit card from their website.
So maybe I will sell my xbox and get another gamecube.

Legend of Kain or something like that.. it's a very graphic vampire story... problem is that even when the darn disc is in the machine and it worked "last night", when I turn it on the next day, it says.. Ghost Recon 2 - XBL Co-Op missions anyone interested?

The best thing about it is that you can have up to 16 people in an online co-op game!!!

only $20 and if played online with the right group of people, it can be a great game. the only problems are if you try to play a game during the day...90% of the people you go against will not know how to play poker. they will go all in on nothing with every hand, but if you go on at night, about 70% have a basic idea on how to play poker and play real.

Hi, well I just backed down and bought Mortal Kombat for my boyfriend. Now, when i play fighting games, I just bang on the buttons and hope i do something, and he doesn't want me to go online and mess up his ratings. BUT i can play that puzzle game... not very well, but i try. I played against the only person online in the puzzle game, but he was super-advanced, it was a quick loss. anyway, if anyone ever wants to play the puzzle game online with me, I should be on at about 5:00-6:00 pm, eastern time, the next couple days. my online name is Raven Darkmoon. Ok, so xbox is soooo nice, they give you 2 mos free.... Well great I bought my friend NCAA2K5, and was going to get him set up with xbox live for the 2 free mos... But the stupid card was already expired.
I called Microsoft and they gave me their speech about how the distributors do that or something.... Anyways to save me having to buy another friggin game for the code, does anyone have an unused one? I can give you the old one if you think im lying or whatnot, but damn Microsoft, you always have to be like this don't you!

Fable Bug

For those interested in Fable, if you're playing a mission where you're supposed to escort someone and you tell them to wait, they don't wait where you tell them to (which is probably good in some cases, I suppose since they tend to run from baddies). The problem comes in when you first enter a new area and tell them to wait. if a baddie shows up they'll run through the gateway and stand on the other side getting the shit kicked out of them by the baddie.

You can't follow them through the arch since that takes you to the previous map and they're not there with you at that point. You can take out the threat with Will powers (lightning out of your fingertips, etc) or with arrows but once they're in there they don't respond to "Follow Me Again!" commands! So you're fucked!

Best two-player co-ops?

There are a few adventure/shooter games out there which allow you and a friend, in a split-screen environment, to play a game's story from beginning to end. Not deathmatch. Just playing the adventure together.

Halo (soon...Halo 2), Serious Sam, TimeSplitters, and SW: Battlefront are a few of them.

Are there any other great two-player adventures out there (or up and coming) that you can recommend?

Rainbow Six - Black Arrow.

Awesome game. Very well done right down to the fine details. Cool options like playing split screen on the same console. Lots of fun and the online play is awesome as well. Love playing with people all over the world, ( that is a cool feature in any game ). I highly recommend it.

Why did the box have to break down on me the eve of Fable? Now the game sits on the floor, unplayed, as the Xbox flashes red and green for no apparent reason. Last night it tried to consume a rented DVD. *sigh* What's a girl to do... Im afraid of losing thousands of hours of gameplay and save files. Anyone have any similar problems? I'm figuring i trade it in, and buy a brand new one. I've heard opening them up is hard as hell, and sending it into the company to get fixed costs more than a new console!! This could happen to anyone, I have been so careful and good to me Xbox, giving it its own shelf, lots of space to breathe, never really moved or shook it, nothing. Ok if this is them just messing with us then it is beyond cruel. Scifi.com posted an article linking bungie and halo 2 to a hacked website the article can be viewed here www.scifi.com/scifiwire/art-games.html

So the story goes there is a new trailer for halo 2 in theatres which can be viewed here www.xbox.com/en-US/halo2/

Just make sure you choose the cinema trailer. When you watch the trailer at the very end under the xbox symbol it says www.xbox.com and very quickly changes to www.ilovebees.com which is the hacked website in question. If you go to the website a flash movie load and has a bunch of techno jargon that comes up along with a countdown timer that will end in a little over 3 days. There is an faq underneath it that says what happened to this website click here. If you click on the word here you get a list of articles conataining things like what is it counting down to and some historic events that happened on aug 24 which is in a little over 3 days from now.
Including a mention of aug 24 1995 when microsft released win 95. So rumors are flying that possibly they finished halo early and it may ship on the 24th. But maybe not take a look for yourself.

Anyone take advantage of the new xbox live deal, that includes Crimson Skies and 12mo's of XBL?
I need to get an account again, and I guess this is the best deal. I've seen that Ebgames sells it for about $60, but I've seen some online sites as low as $40.
Anyone know of any other deals?
It's a shame Xbox has to charge so much in the first place for a service that isn't that great yet. I had the service when it first came out and you got the stupid 'Whacked' game. You know what sucks too, is if you don't renew, you can't get your old screen name back. Microsoft Bullies!!!

wow...this game takes rb6: 3 for xbox and feeds it crack...

the glitches that affected gameplay are gone + a few new game modes and much bigger maps make this game great. only $40.

pick this up if you have xbox live and enjoy fps games.

Hey all,
There's a videogame tournament coming up on July 23 in San Jose, Calif. and I'm hoping you can help me get the word out about it. It's hosted by the Tech Museum of Innovation and what makes it unique is that finalists for several of the games will duke it out on the Giant Dome Screen - which is otherwise used for IMAX films.

The Xbox games in the tournament are NASCAR Thunder 2004, SSX 3 and HALO. Finals for all three will be played on the Giant Dome Screen. You can get a look at it here: http://www.jgpr.com/maxgames/gds.jpg . The theater has a 44 speaker, 13,000 watt sound system.

The tournament will also feature two of the creators of "Red vs. Blue", who will talk about the series during the day and show episodes on the Giant Dome Screen during the evening. Bungie will also provide a hi-res version of their nine-minute trailer for HALO 2.

The tournament website is http://www.thetech.org/maxgames . If you know anyone in the Bay Area who might be interested, please pass the word along.

On the chance you're a PS2 or Gamecube player, the tournament games for those consoles are PS2: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4, DDR Max 2 and Downhill Domination; Gamecube: Mario Kart Double Dash, Super Smash Brothers Melee and Super Monkey Ball 2. Finals for Downhill Domination, Super Monkey Ball 2 and Mario Kart Double Dash will be played on the Giant Dome Screen.

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. Anything you can do to help spread the word would be greatly appreciated.
